Design process
We like to involve the customer in the design process as much as possible, from the initial design ideas through to the final finished piece, this way the customer gets a piece of work that is both unique and has an enduring personal belonging. As we produce items that are made to last, it is imperative that the client will continue to get pleasure from the final result.
We use the Blog to post updates on commissions, from sketches through the work in progress to the finished product, so please look there to understand the process that each project goes through.
For larger, more complex projects we often make scale models (maquettes) which help us understand the technicalities of making the final piece, and allow us to experiment with form and finish before we make the real thing. See the exaamples below for details...
